I think all 3 of the inquiries have had some type of take-away. Looking back at my writing I have noticed that it has changed throughout the course of the semester. From Inquiry 1 I think my biggest take-away was the close reading skills. I never knew there could be so much more about a movie to learn if you just dig a little deeper. Inquiry 1 has been my favorite project so far. For Inquiry 2 I think the biggest take-away was refining my research skills. I really tried to integrate as many source into my paper without it being to bogged down with quotes. And finally, for Inquiry 3 I learned what a western canon actually was and what it was supposed to do for you. But, I also learned that there are many other texts that can teach someone just as good of a lesson as a classic novel can.
From Inquiry 1 I said "Jack is Rose's iceberg." This is my favorite interpretation that I gained from the movie. It is definitely something I would not have interpreted had I not have been "close reading" the movie.
With the context of a movie being important, in Inquiry 2 I chose the social context of teenage pregnancy. I said that teenage pregnancy may becoming more acceptable with all of the shows and movies out now. I learned about how our culture is changing and the context of these changes are important.
In Inquiry 3 during my reflection I talked about how growing up in a small town really has effected me. I learned that your background really effects the types of texts you find interesting and beneficial.
